A cat is in the box…

There is a radioactive source,a flask containing a poison,a radioactive sensor and a hammer. they are placed in the same box along with the cat. If the sensor detects radiation, the flask is shattered by the hammer, releasing the poison that kills the cat, if it does not detect any radioactive radiation the hammer will not hit the flask so there wouldn’t be any poison released in the box, the cat will live.
As it’s cleared, radiation from the radioactive materials is totally unpredictable, let’s say the probability of atom(s) being radiated from the source is 50% (does not matter, it can be 90% or 10% depending on many factors). now:
if the cat is being placed in the box from 12:00 pm to 12:05 pm , can we determine the cat is alive or dead? no we can not! unless we break open the box and observe it, in only a moment of observation our doubt becomes certainty. but wait, before opening the box, the cat is both dead and alive! acording to Uncertanty priciple by Heisenberg,it’s the matter of observation that foces the cat to be alive or dead and not both at the same time, before observation the cat is 50% alive and 50% dead(or 90% alive and 10% dead) This is the Copenhagen interpretationfor the incidents that have multiple outcomes. the experiment is a thought experiment, Schrödinger’s cat, devised by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger
In a more interesting interpretation, the Many-Worlds interpretation states that :
even after opening the box and observing, the cat is both alive and dead but not at the same universes.
right at the time of the observation the universe splits into two(in Copenhagen interpretation the act of obervation forces the result of the experiment to be only one) ,in one universe the cat is dead and in the other one it’s alive, but we never see both outcomes because two universes are two totally different universes and decoherence. so the difference with the Copenhagen interpretation is that right after openning the box the cat is not dead or alive ,rather it’s dead and alive but in different universes!

many-worlds interpretation clearly states that there are other universes apart from the one we are living in now, apart from the one that you are reading this blog in. i am sure all of us been through several accidents. when i was a kid, my family and i had a car accident , but we survived, who knows maybe we are already dead in another universe and we simply don’t know it!
